Pattern Break/Prediction List Update
The good news is all of the storms predicted on September 7th, have been within a day of our predicted date. The bad news is once this storm wraps up there will be a break in the action. How long of a break? The next storm on our prediction list is November 13th and is looking weak. The Maddan Julian Oscillation (MJO) has gone neutral and has zapped the energy out of this system. The MJO is predicted to enter phase 6 and strengthen by Thanksgiving.
That Nov 13 system hits Colorado by November 14-15th and is on track. Finally, there will be a good storm hitting Montana by November 16-17th that is last on our prediction list. That storm will slide down to Colorado and Utah by November 18-19th,
With the exception of small storm on the 13th (possibly), the Sierra and Pacific Northwest (PNW) looks to be dry, until the Montana storm clips the PNW.
Thanksgiving Week
There will be a storm that will impact Montana and Wyoming right around Thanksgiving. The problem with this storm is it is small. When it came thru in August, it was tiny. In October it was tripled in size but still small. What will it do this time?
This is a storm that I would love to place on our forecast, but I just can’t do it. So, I will monitor this storm and wait for it on the GFS. I’m sure it will be there, and I hope it is bigger and includes Colorado.

Meier Skis in Denver
Quick shout out to Meier Skis in Denver. They do it all, from making custom skis, tuning, gear, or just stop by to have a beer in their Craft Skiery (the world’s first brewery in a ski shop).
