Back-to-Back Trifectas

Active Part of the Hurricane Pattern

We have our first predicted Typhoon, currently Tropical Storm Krathon, headed towards Taiwan on the same path as last year’s Typhoon Koinu.  Typhoon Koinu had the highest recorded winds with over 200 mph gusts.  Present telemetry looks like, at the least, a category 3 or 4 storm.  It is moving a little slower than expected and should hit the projected landfall area on Wednesday.  It may be a little early to call this Back-to-Back Trifectas, but I am pretty confident this will happen.

Below are the western pacific storms followed by the projected funnel cone for Krathon.  Tropical storm Jebi is on a northward path and will get caught up in the jet stream off the coast of Japan, but may skirt Tokyo.

Currently, 4 hurricane predictions have hit.  Hurricanes Beryl, Debby, Helene and Typhoon Krathon by Wednesday.  We have had near misses with the unnamed storm that hit the Carolinas, that storm was at the least tropical storm strength.  Also, Hurricane John that hit Michoacan Mexico.  This storm was about 400 miles south of the target area of Guadalajara.   We could technically count that storm because it was pretty close, but I strongly believe that it needed to be within 100 miles.

Next Possible Pattern Storms

Next on the predictions list is the possible return of the Corpus Christi storm (Beryl Sept 30), This storm is doubtful, one, because it already hit, and two, there isn’t any storms close on the GFS.

Puerta Vallarta Oct 4th, this could spin up, there is some activity in the area.

The next possible storm is a second target for the west coast of Florida (October 5).  This storm is showing up on the GFS but is over 150 hours out.  This would be very bad news for Florida to have back-to-back targets in the panhandle or west coast.

Finally, Baja Mexico October 14th.

Predictions from March 8 with a second set of predictions released June 3rd (click to enlarge).
