Forecast Summary

Light snow today in the Pacific Northwest, and another wave of snow is expected to move in tomorrow morning, bringing another round of 3-5 inches of snow for the higher elevation resorts. Snow levels are expected to rise to about 5500 feet during the day on Sunday.  Temperatures today will be in the upper 20’s for the northern Cascades and low 30’s in the southern Cascades.

In Lake Tahoe, heavy snow is expected to continue throughout the day until Sunday night, where 2-4 feet of snow is expected along the crest. Temperatures at Lake are a little colder, with highs around 30 at 5200 feet, and ridgetop temperatures in the mid 20’s. The winds will be moderate, 20-25 mph winds and 40 mph gusts, and ridgetop gusts in the 50’s.  Sunday will be nearly a carbon copy of today.  Try explaining carbon copy to the younger generation.

Moving on to Utah, we have a break in the action today after a few lingering showers this morning.   The sun is expected to make an appearance in the afternoon, but temperatures will still be cold, around 25 degrees with wind chills in the single digits.  The next wave arrives Sunday.  There is not a lot of moisture with it, but a good refresh of 3-5 inches is expected.

Heavy powder day for Colorado, with several resorts over 10 inches of wet snow.  Colder lighter snow can be found along the divide with both A-Basin and Loveland coming in with double digit numbers.

Expect heavy snow throughout the day today with warm temperatures this afternoon.  I don’t expect any rain at base level, but I can’t rule it out.  High temperatures will be around 35, with morning temps in the mid 20’s, with colder temps for the higher elevation resorts.  There will be a lull in between waves tonight, then the next system moves in tomorrow bringing another round of snow throughout the day.

We have a lot of things we are planning on adding this summer.  We are going to do an extensive upgrade to add automated features like resort current conditions, add all the webcams that we can process., along with some back of the house items.

Long-Range Prediction Chart

We are on storms 60-64 that will occur this week.  Presently, we are in a lull with the strength of the storm systems, but that is predicted to energize in the coming days.  We are seeing this energy on the models, around storm 64, for Lake Tahoe, with the aforementioned AR that is setting up now.
