Hey man have you given up on forecasting pattern storms for this season? I know you can’t change the spreadsheet but curious what the rest of April & May will bring us

Good question Josh. This has been a challenging year, we had a rare lengthening of the pattern last month, from the major ridge, that got us off kilter by 4 day’s. Along with that, the MJO got out of sync as well. The Pattern has since corrected, but the MJO is still off, that is why these storms are so intense now, the MJO is strong changing the weak storms into good ones. I did not want to predict storms that I was unsure of, that is why I haven’t posted on the Predictions.
That being said, the biggest storm of the pattern that will come through at the end of April and first week of May. The MJO looks like it will be strong thru the 28th, at least, so that storm should be good. I am going to write an explanation of what has happened this year in a blog post soon.
