Forecast Summary

Nice day yesterday coming at the top end of expectations!  The Active Pattern hopefully will continue to overachieve as we get deeper into the Pacific Storm flow.  Snow continues today in the Pacific Northwest–rinse and repeat.  Another 6-10 for the southern Cascades with about half of that expected to the north with another round tonight.  In California/Nevada, the storm for Tahoe wraps this morning by 9 or 10.  The next significant round will hit Sunday.

In Utah, Winter Storm Warnings today as a major wave hits.  Expect 1-2 feet by tomorrow first chair with at least a foot today.  The storm just keeps getting better with model guidance continuing to have the volume “turned up”.  Snow continues tomorrow with another 8-16 before exiting late tomorrow night.

Colorado will continue with the system that hit yesterday and will wrap by this afternoon, dropping another 2-4 or 3-6 for most resorts.  The storm that is hitting Utah today arrives tonight and will drop another 3-6 or 4-8 across the board.

Long Range Forecast Predictions

We are sitting at 88.8 % Accurate, which is along our historical average.  The Active Pattern is just 5 days away from the storm that will move thru the Pacific Northwest, Lake Tahoe, Utah and Colorado Christmas Eve (PNW, Tahoe) Day (Utah) and Night (Colorado).

Average lead time between when the storms were predicted and when they hit is 23.37 days, which is quite a bit better than model guidance which maxes out at 14 days.

There will be a few storms moving through the Pacific Northwest and Canada between now and the Active Pattern beginning today.  Another storm Sunday will hit the PNW and possibly Lake Tahoe and finally a third wave through the PNW and Canada on Monday the 23rd.
