Daily Snow Stakes
Storm Totals HRRR, NAM, NWS
Forecast
We have about 6 inches at Winter Park and Steamboat has about 3 as I finish this blog this morning. The storm is looking good, check out the infrared GIF. You can see the snowfall clearly along the northern border begin to increase and spread south.
Most areas will receive between 2-4 or 3-6. The northern mountains will fare the best, between 4-8, maybe as much as 10. Here is a wide shot of the Rockies that shows the entire system.
All Snow Let It Go, Surface, 500 mb thru Dec 19th.
Next Storm and Next Set of Predictions
Next storm system is on the models and is running a little early–projected to hit Lake Tahoe Thursday–Utah and Colorado on Friday. We’ll see how the next couple of model runs go because this storm has been all over the place. I think with all of the persistent ridging (ridge of death) it has skewed the output. Either that or we are off on the harmonic, or part of the cycle length.
Our next set of predictions will be released tomorrow.
