The pattern is setting up nicely for Canadian resorts this year. We will see how the pattern evolves over the next few weeks.
This system is working its way south today with stops in the Pacific Northwest and will hit Montana tonight, with Winter Storm Warnings beginning late today. There should be at least a foot of snow by Thursday evening for Montana resorts and likely Grand Targhee and Jackson Hole.
Utah gets in on the action Thursday afternoon, with Colorado early Friday morning. This system will be followed by a second wave beginning in the wee hours Friday night and Saturday morning. Presently, the second wave gets stronger in intensity over Colorado. Below is a close-up view of the storm from the last two model runs. Click to animate.
Below is the view from 18,000 feet, followed by the surface level chart.
More details and snowfall totals for Colorado and Utah later today or tomorrow.
